Jenna Cole Photography-Dallas, TX bio picture

Welcome to Jenna Cole!

Investing in a camera and launching this business has given me the
chance to merge the two activities I love most, photography and blogging. After spending several months taking still life photos for my other blogging endeavors (That Bride, Weddingbee, and That Wife) I realized that I wanted to start spending time with people. I wanted to spend my days taking pictures of people that helped them to see how beautiful they are.

I want to capture the moments in your life as they are happening, as they would happen even if I wasn't there with you. When the light falls just right, and the boy and the girl look at each other just so, magic happens. I want to be there for that moment, composing an image that tells a story, your story.

You can read more about my personal life at That Wife, add me on Twitter, or find me on Facebook. Thank you for visiting and for commenting (I read them all and they make my day!).

As I prepare for the next big event in my life (the birth of my baby in April!), I'm going to be refocusing my business and sacling back on the number and type of sessions I am accepting. I'll be on maternity leave beginning in March and lasting through May. Please contact me if you have any questions!

Engagement: Kristi and Dave

Want to know a secret? Dave and Kristi are already married! Which makes this a faux-engagement shoot. Something more like a love shoot I think, because these two love each other. They loved each other all over my photos in a wonderful oopey-goopey way that I love to take pictures of.

They agreed to be test subjects for my first engagement shoot.

1

SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera) Shot!

I think these two attract light like magnets.

3-1 SOOC

And after a little bit of editing…

4

Crinkles in the nose prove authenticity of feeling.

3

5

My first sun flare shot. I can already tell I’m in love.

6

I think you will be seeing this ivy wall in my photos quite often.

THAT SHOT!

Maybe this should have been my SOOC shot, it looked a lot like this right out of the camera. See that texture behind them? I did not add that in.

11

I realize nothing is in focus in this shot. Do I care? No. Sometimes you just like things because you like them.

12

Dave gets all the credit for this spot.

13

I swear there are two people I really know, not local models I recruited to make my blog look good.

15

16

I realize feet growing out of the head are not the best idea, but look at that smile. I can’t resist a genuine guy smile for a blog post.

17

18

Not the best day to forget to wear your rings Kristi. :) Don’t worry, I forget all the time too.

19

20

Remember, they are married. PDA in dark corners is completely okay in this context.

21

22

What I like to think of as a nice mom/grandma shot. Although mom would probably request that I have them smile a little more often.

23

Can you say sexy?

24

25

Thanks Kristi and Dave for being my first ever set of test subjects for an engagement shoot. I don’t think I’ll be able to top this one for a long time!

March 3, 2009 - 5:10 pm kalen - i like! a few suggestions - watch the necks of the people you're having pose. the best photographers will (very gently) point out that certain angles are cutting off neck length or unflattering, etc. i understand natural, but natural can lead to a LOT of shots (particularly of brides) that are unflattering and thrown out and never displayed by the couple. i love the pictures, though - the colors are great! very natural! you did have a *beautiful* couple to work with! :)
