Wedding: Michelle + Patrick, Part II

Fabulous. Stunning. Gorgeous. Inviting. Perfectly Executed. Between Michelle’s eye for detail and her coordinator Becky’s (of Stress Free Events) organization the event was flawless.

The couple floated into the reception on cloud nine.

quinnweddingfineart40

They got started with the toasts while first and second course were served.

quinnweddingfineart48

The Father of the Bride revealed a few secrets about the bride which were a surprise to everyone there, even the groom!

quinnweddingfineart44

There were a few sweet tears to be seen as well.

quinnweddingfineart46

Whenever the best man said “Hot Tub” in his toast, the bride did this. I have no idea.

quinnweddingfineart50

quinnweddingfineart47

Photobooth! Yeah, I visited no less than three times, twice all by myself. :) (Again future clients, I was a guest at this event, not the photographer. Don’t think I’ll be hogging your booth on your big day!)

quinnweddingfineart52

The bride and her little sister.

quinnweddingfineart53

I always love pictures of guests showing off their photobooth strips.

quinnweddingfineart71

Michelle is a girl after my own heart, I always lick the knife after I cut the cake.

quinnweddingfineart56

This was as close as they got to a cake-in-the-face smash.

quinnweddingfineart60

quinnweddingfineart61

Details, details, details!

quinnweddingfineart62

THAT SHOT!

It’s the dress off the shoulder that does it for me.

quinnweddingfineart65

Those flip-flops were getting in her way.

quinnweddingfineart67

Once the first dance was done it was time to get down!

quinnweddingfineart69

quinnweddingfineart72

quinnweddingfineart73

So many things happening in this photo. The bride on stage singing along with the band. The MOH in the left corner completely in the moment. Love.

quinnweddingfineart74

Every time I look at this photo I laugh out loud. Look at the woman second from the left, she SOO wants that bouquet!

quinnweddingfineart76

I’d faint over those gams too.

quinnweddingfineart77

quinnweddingfineart78

Compared to the enthuisasm seen in the bouquet toss shot the boys are sorely lacking. I had a secret crush on the Zac Efron look-a-like catching the garter on his toe.

quinnweddingfineart79

And it was back to the dancing again!

quinnweddingfineart80

All too soon it was the last dance, and the bride and groom gave it everything they had.

quinnweddingfineart81

As they drove away at the end of the night Patrick pulled a “Look Ma, no hands!” move.

quinnweddingfineart84

2nd favorite shot of the night. So glad you didn’t end up falling out Michelle, but a little bit of danger and fear made for a great shot for me. :)

quinnweddingfineart85

Michelle and Patrick, thank you for letting me come down and enjoy your wedding. You were wonderful hosts and I had an absolute blast. I hope this isn’t the last we see of each other!

Best,

Jenna

June 14, 2009 - 4:44 am MCH - OK, I'll leave you an entire story about this series because I love so many of the photo's and am curious what you did. You seem to capture the small moments, the important look on some one's face. My compliments! Are you patient, is that what helps here? Or do you just have an eye or feeling for these moment? Photo 1 is just a beautiful shot, telling them forever what it looked like. Photo 7: What did you do? There doesn't seem to be focus anywhere?, maybe on the left glass? I love the shot, I had to look several times to see what was going on, it's the toast!! And now I love it even more. Photo 16: What a great shot, flip flops on the side! Love it. Photo 20 is one of my favorites because it captures SO MUCH! I think this one is good for a serious contest. Photo 21: WOW, that lady running for it. Awesome capture. Again, your shutter freezes her. Last Question: What are your settings when you take pictures of people dancing? I do that often and am still struggling with that. I don't use a flash and my speed is that low that people are blurry in my photo's. I am getting better but I am curious what you do? Flash... cause I didn't think so? Speed? Aperture? ISO? Do people really have complete photo boots at their wedding? What a great idea that is!

June 14, 2009 - 1:54 pm busylizzy - Gorgeous!

June 15, 2009 - 5:57 am Hannah - These are just so phenomenal, Jenna! And I am in love love love with Michelle's dress. I adore these vintage style gowns - I was a portrait collar one myself when the time comes. I have to ask the same question as MCH, what settings have you got in these. I have Aperture down and I have Shutter speed down but the relationsip between them in low light with no flash is KILLING me! Either everything is so underexposed there is no point, or I have ISO high enough to cause major noise (though apparently Noise Ninja will deal with some of this) or everything is mucho blurr-o. Anyway, sorry for the tutorial request on your blog...*blush* Again, these are so amazing and I think the candid nature of them is so lovely.

June 15, 2009 - 4:07 pm Chelsea McGowan - I'm sure Jenna will answer some of your questions, but I'll toss my 2 cents in there. I use to really struggle with reception noise, too... now we use a combination of Dfine and Boutwell's Smooth-A-Matic action, and the images are super creamy! Just play around with stuff and see what fits your style, but regardless of what glass you're swinging, you should be able to smooth out alot of that background noise.
